Prolific Quill Writing Contest

Ever want to write a story, but didn't know where to begin?

Then just write the middle!

Prolific Quill, Syndicomm's writing community, invites you to participate in "Operation Douglas". Who is Douglas? Where does he come from? What's going to happen to him? This stranger is a blank sheet that you will fill as part of the contest. After being given a pre-written prologue, each participant will take a turn writing a continuing portion of Douglas' story, building on the previous writers' sections. After everyone has contributed, the completed story will be presented, and votes cast for the best part. The author of the best section wins a $20 gift certificate to the bookstore of his or her choice!

Fine print: Contest is open to all Syndicomm members in good standing, save for Prolific Quill staff. The order in which participants will write their chapters will be determined randomly. Each participant will receive a private email from the contest moderator indicating that his or her turn has begun, with a deadline for when his or her submission must be emailed to the moderator. Failure to meet this deadline may result in the entrant being removed from the contest. Each part of the story may be edited by the moderator for formatting and punctuation, but not content, before being posted with the author's name for public consumption. Story content may not describe illegal or sexual activities in such detail as to make the entry inappropriate for a general audience. After the final chapter has been posted, the moderator will determine which chapter shall be deemed the winner. The author of the winning chapter may choose to receive a $20 gift certificate to Barnes & Noble, Waldenbooks, or Amazon.com. The name "Operation Douglas" is graciously on loan from Guerilla Improv.
