A Windows/PC review section has been added to Gamebits, marking our first official foray into computer gaming. At this time, we are not expanding to include that platform as much as we are acknowledging its existence; all currently available reviews of PC games are based on their console counterparts.
In creating that index, I also cross-referenced many other titles that have been reviewed here and since published for other consoles. The number of files that have been changed encourages the easiest update route of simply re-uploading the entire site, but before that happens, I might as well make some other universal changes as well, some of which I'm not yet prepared to implement. But it all will happen eventually.
Dolby sent an email to inform me of their game database, available at http://www.dolby.com/games/. It "allows interested parties to run through hundreds of game titles listed either by specific Dolby audio technology (e.g. Dolby Digital 5.1, Dolby Pro Logic II, Dolby Surround, etc.) or by gaming platform. Soon you'll be able to search by publisher."
I've corrected many outdated links in the archived news section. Remember that reporting a bad link can earn you a free game.
Hope everyone had fun celebrating America's 227th birthday. Today I've posted a review of the GameCube edition of Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO. This article is by Robert Boyd, who was last seen on Gamebits in February with his review of Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.
My initial fury slowly melted into satisfaction when I found several hundred Gamebits articles available from Rotten Tomatoes, a movie review site that branched into video games in February. They are not engaging in the unauthorized redistribution of copyrighted Gamebits material, as I initially feared, but offering links to other review sites, and with a slick and respectable presentation. The only real faux pas I can consider would be not asking for permission, though a link is passive and a quote is fair use, so it's more a matter of netiquette than anything. Regardless, I like their work, and am investigating working with them (only now intentionally) for future reviews.
RTX Red Rock reviewed, as promised.
