Two new reviews, for Harry Potter and Metal Gear Solid 2 (which anyone in their right mind has already played). Anyone seen the Harry Potter movie yet? Not I, but I hear it's the best possible adaptation of a book to a movie (which is how I felt about The Green Mile). Sounds promising.
In addition to giving a free game to everyone who signs up for Syndicomm and the Gamebits message boards, I'll also give one to anyone who can tell me where, in Metal Gear Solid 2, all 12 control units on the Shell 1-2 connecting bridge are.
Congrats to me, who finished Metal Gear Solid 2 with absolutely no outstanding statistics. But kudos to Konami for the nifty online mission records, where codes generated by MGS2 represent one's game data. Enter my ID - mgs0000875b - to see my score. (you may need to further clarify the data, such as Normal difficulty, Male, North America, etc.) A review will be posted on Dec 4, following next week's review of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.
It's not Gamebits' job to report the news, but you gotta know this: the Sega Dreamcast is now only $49.95. That's a 128-bit console for 1/6th the price of a PlayStation 2 or Xbox. The games on this system are great, people - just check the reviews on this site, the average score is pretty high. You'd be doing yourself a disservice as a gamer to not get a DC, if you haven't already.
As with all Gamebits opinions, this has been an unpaid, unsolicited endorsement.

So who has a GameCube, Xbox, or Metal Gear Solid 2? Isn't this a wonderful time to be a gamer? I'm playing Luigi's Mansion, Star Wars Rogue Leader, Wave Race Blue Storm, and MGS2 right now, all the while wondering which I should review before gourging myself on turkey. (remember: nothing says lovin' like the communal devouring of a dead bird's burnt flesh.) My Star Wars skills, ah, lack the Force, as does my ability to evade the Russian stormtroopers in MGS2. Luigi's Mansion, though… well, of course I'd be excelling at the only kid's game in the lot.
If you're a gamer and like fantasy, then you should check out not only the fantasy articles I've added to this site, but also RASalvatore.com, an extensive and well-maintained fan site about author R.A. Salvatore and his novels. When Mr. Salvatore went to register the domain years ago, he found it already taken and intended to email the owner asking to buy it. When Mr. Salvatore saw what a great site was being run under the name, he said, "Keep it." Can't get much more of an official endorsement than that.
Tennis 2K2 review up today. No further updates this week, despite the Xbox and Metal Gear Solid 2 being released. See you this weekend.
I've added a non-gaming section to the Other Articles page, where I've placed several articles about fantasy author R.A. Salvatore. These additions are prompted by last week's release of the Sea of Swords novel, and in anticipation of a Prolific Quill web site. Salvatore is also writing the novelization of Star Wars Episode II.
Farewell and well-wishes to one of my favorite public relations people from Access Communications.
Virtua Tennis review up next week, followed by Dragon Warrior VII.
Guess who already has Star Wars: Rogue Leader already… and no GameCube to play it on? <sniff>
