Confidential Mission review is up; sorry for the delay. As of this past weekend, my brother was the last of the family to graduate from college, and I was in D.C. to help celebrate. WTG Steve!
Right now I'm working on Dark Cloud, what I thought would be a PS2 RPG but is really an adventure game in the spirit of Rogue, Moria, and Dungeon Hack. This game is part of my June lineup:
- June 4: Dark Cloud
- June 11: Crazy Taxi 2
- June 18: Time Crisis Project Titan
- June 25: Sonic Adventure 2
… assuming the publishers come through, of course. The last Namco game I requested and reviewed was Ridge Racer Type 4, two years ago this month - but my access to their press website is still valid, so here's hoping.
I've added Konami, Atlus, Activision, and Square press CD's to the Syndicomm site.
Giga Wing 2, Mars Matrix, and Project Justice have all arrived from Capcom, as have Confidential Mission from Sega and Gauntlet: Dark Legacy from Midway. Two new Zelda games for Game Boy are out as well. Needless to say, I won't be short review material anytime soon.
Click on the E3 link, above or to the left, to see my coverage of this year's show, starting with today's coverage of the Nintendo and Sony press conferences. Media files from Sony, Nintendo, and Capcom press kit CD-ROMs are also available on Syndicomm (see below).
Gamebits has launched an online community on Syndicomm.com. Read the press release for more details and instructions for signing up.
The Gamebits message board and chat area will provide Gamebits readers and writers with an opportunity to interact. Be sure to check the forum for live coverage of E3 this week (I leave tomorrow morning). In the future, Syndicomm.com may receive a lead on Gamebits reviews.
A comment by me in today's HeroicStories. Also keep an eye on Syndicomm as Gamebits expands from just a game review column…
Happy Cinco de Mayo! Sega's hot: here's why. Their E3 booth is 100% by invitation only this year - and I'm invited at 2:00 PM on Thursday the 17th. Two hours later, I'm invited to "a one-hour, in-booth presentation and reception hosted by Sega of America President and COO Peter Moore and Sega's coveted developers including AM2, Amusement Vision, Hitmaker, Smilebit, SonicTeam, Visual Concepts and others. Sega will reveal its strategic and content announcements, offer the first hands-on experience with Sega games for Nintendo(r) gaming platforms, as well as unveil the lineup for PlayStation(r) 2, Xbox(tm) and Dreamcast(tm). Sega will also announce the incredible Sega Sports(tm) lineup for multiple video game consoles." Sega GameCube… <drool> The next week on Tuesday the 22nd, 18-Wheeler American Pro Trucker is released, and exactly a week after that, Crazy Taxi 2, sequel to one of my all-time favorite Sega games, hits the shelves. It's good to be a Sega nut.
My thesis is mentioned and linked to in today's Penny Arcade newspost. Thank you, gentlemen; it's a pleasure to read your work.
Come back on Monday for a review of Star Wars Super Bombad Racing - my first PS2 review. 'til then, have a good weekend.
Simpsons Wrestling review is up, along with two new "Other" pieces by me. The Game is a short fiction piece that falls beyond the scope of a Gamebits column. I've tried to get it published, regardless, but haven't had any luck, so here it is. I've also put Moral Panics Over Youth Culture and Video Games, my college thesis, on Gamebits in HTML format. It's 105 typed pages of pure academic joy.
